Ever wondered how some businesses become legacies that last centuries? For Rajasthan Jewellers, it’s a rare combination of timeless craftsmanship, a dash of tradition, and a whole lot of passion. From the days of the British Raj to today, we’ve been perfecting the art of jewellery-making, passing down secrets with each generation. For over 500 years, we’ve been the trusted name for those who value quality, proving that some things only get better with age.
Our journey began in the sacred town of Shreenathji, Rajasthan, where our family first established itself as master jewelers. In 1950, we moved to Ambaji, where my grandfather, Shri Bhawarlalji, envisioned a bright future for Mt. Abu, the serene hill station of Rajasthan. Recognizing its potential as a tourist destination, he opened the first Rajasthan Jewellers store in Mt. Abu in 1955. At the time, it was the only organised jewellery store in the area, setting a new standard for quality and trust.
My father, Mr. Shankar Vagrecha, joined the business after completing his studies, bringing with him a charismatic personality, wit, and a genuine connection with people. His ability to build relationships turned Rajasthan Jewellers into a beloved destination for customers, especially those from Ahmedabad, who frequently visited Mt. Abu for holidays. His efforts helped us cultivate a loyal clientele, and soon, no VIP or dignitary would leave Mt. Abu without visiting our store.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of serving distinguished personalities, including prominent political leaders and respected members of royalty. These esteemed associations have further solidified our reputation as a trusted and revered name in the jewelry world.
The 1980s marked a new chapter as we ventured into the precious stones business. This expansion attracted a wave of foreign travellers, adding to our growing list of patrons. As Mt. Abu flourished into a bustling tourist hub, with hotels and infrastructure developing, our business thrived alongside it.
In 1990, I, Manish Vagrecha, joined the business, following in my father’s footsteps. With a vision to expand, I identified Ahmedabad as the ideal location for our next store, given the strong connection we had built with customers from the city. After marrying Priti, who also joined the business, we opened our Ahmedabad store in 2008. The opening day remains one of the most memorable moments in our journey, as our loyal customers celebrated with us, reaffirming their love and trust in Rajasthan Jewellers.
Today, our son, Shubh Vagrecha, has joined the business after studying gemology. His passion for design and innovation, coupled with his research on stones and techniques, ensures that we remain future-ready while staying true to our legacy.
